SoCal Defined

Southern California doesn't have any official boundaries. It's generally considered the area locked in by the Pacific Ocean, Mexico, the Colorado River and the Tehachapi Mountains. If you need more specific guidelines, think of SoCal as San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, Orange, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

Southern California has a reputation for endless sunny days and movie stars, tempered with massive traffic congestion and a bit of gang violence. Truth is, Sunny SoCal's probably not too different from a lot of other places around the world -- except we have Disneyland, Hollywood, Universal Studios, South Coast Plaza, Manhattan Beach, California rolls...well OK maybe we are different here. But in a good way. And once you get here, you might realize that all those famous attractions are outnumbered by lesser known sites and sounds that are just as entertaining. So plan your trip around the big stuff, but don't be surprised if you get distracted by funnel cakes, football games, sunsets or fast food.

Generally speaking, us Californians are a flighty, self-oriented bunch. While you're here, you can enjoy a little of the same.
