Last night the Lakers rolled past the Thunder like the Garth Brooks song. I know people in LA were happy and surprised all wrapped into one. Less than 24 hours before all the reporters in LA were saying what is wrong with the Lakers? Are they not playing with heart? How badly injured is Kobe? Can they stop Russell Westbrook or Kevin Durant? How are they going to get the ball inside to Pau and Andrew?
All the Lakers must have been listening and came out and showed the reporters and fans who really is the Champions with a massive demonstration of how to play defense and how to get the ball inside. Pau and Andrew combined for 46 points and 22 rebounds and the Lakers assisted on 60% of all the baskets made. Team basketball at its best, there were ally-oops, head fakes and get this only 14 3-point shots attempted down from their 31 3-point shot attempts in game 3.
Mind you this is only one game and the Thunder pretty much destroyed the Lakers in game 4 in the same fashion but all the “experts” were saying that who ever wins game 5 has a huge advantages in the series. So do the Lakers have the series wrapped up, by no means, but if history is a gauge they have a pretty good chance. The Lakers are 17-0 in series if they win game 5 when the series is tied 2-2.
Friday night will be the test back in OKC, but now the Lakers gave a big middle finger to all the doubters and the haters and put the league on notice that they can still play.

The Lakers will take on the Thunder in Oklahoma city tonight at 6:30 PST. This will be an interesting match up after the game Two scare. Will the Thunder be too hyped up before their home game and not be able to perform or will the Lakers come in with a relaxed attitude and get blown out. Yesterday on KLAC AM570 Vic the Brick predicted a Lakers lose by 20 points to the Thunder tonight. I thought that was quite a prediction from the Laker lover himself, but I am with Vic on this one. The Lakers will probably lose this one, maybe not by 20 points, but probably more by 10-12 points. The only way they will be able to prove both Vic and I wrong is if they are able to stop/limit Durant and Westbrook and figure out a way to get the ball to Bynum and Lamar needs to figure out how to baffle Ibaka. Kobe and Pau can not continue to combine for 64 points a night and expect them to win a Championship or much less a series.
Oh yeah there is the whole getting your shot blocked 17 times thing that needs to be addressed. One piece of advise “Head Fake” or “Shot Fake” try it once in a while and see what happens. The Thunder defenders will fly by you and then go to the basket.
Good luck to the Lakers and hopefully they will earn a split in Oklahoma.

The Los Angeles Dodgers scored 23 runs the past two games, Wow that is all I have to say. The bummer is they only won one game out of two. They definitely have their own “Big Blue Machine”, stealing that term from the 70’s Cincinnati Reds, I choose that since they were play the Reds the past two games. With Matt Kemp leading the way with 7 homers (tops in the National League ahead of Albert Pujols) and a 10 game hitting streak, Andre Either and his sweet swing batting a cool .400, and of course there is Manny hitting a blistering .421 second in the National League. And the man that starts it all off is Rafael Furcal batting .356 with 7 stolen bases. Furcal is rounding in too shape quite nicely so far, hopefully his health stays at this level or better. All of the Dodgers regular day starters are batting .313 or better except for Blake DeWitt.
I do not know how much the Dodgers are paying Don Mattingly, but whatever it is he is certainly earning his money this year and is showing why he will be the next Dodger manager after Joe Torre leaves.
Now all they have to do is figure out the pitching and look out National League.

DUIs happen. Check out this great blog post with some seriously disturbing statistics to prove it. For some reason, DUIs seem to happen a lot in Southern California. Maybe it’s because of all the famous people cruising around (e.g., Mel Gibson and Lindsey Lohan), setting a bad example. Maybe we just have too many liquor stores and bars. I don’t know. In any case, if you get busted with booze on your breath, you will need some big-time legal representation to minimize the damages. Locating decent housing in Southern California can be problematic. If you aren’t familiar with SoCal’s complex web of communities, a simple apartment search may lead you to some areas of town that are, shall we say, less than desirable. The simplest way to avoid that kind of unpleasant surprise is to focus your search on Luxury Lofts and luxury apartment communities. One site that does this for you is LuxuryApartmentShop.com.
LuxuryApartmentShop allows you to search by city, zip code, neighborhood or county. You can also search for luxury apartments near a certain college, within a certain school district or in a certain building. Each apartment community listing contains a color photo, description, rental rates and a Lux Score. The Lux Score is the site’s exclusive rating on the apartment community’s amenities.
The search function is easy to use: I searched for luxury apartments in Carlsbad, California and the site returned four listings for communities within Carlsbad, plus many more within a few miles of Carlsbad. You can then browse the results by number of bedrooms. The search also returns lists of nearby neighborhoods, zip codes and colleges, which are handy if you aren’t familiar with the area.

According to DQNews.com, California’s average home price in March was $255,000. While this is down from the 2007 peak of $484,000, it’s still really challenging to buy a home in Southern California. Homes located in the more livable communities of SoCal, like Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica and Carlsbad, are priced well above the state’s median price. Plus, the banks are more particular about approving loans, particularly in geographies with volatile home prices. This tight lending environment has forced home buyers and sellers to explore other alternatives.
