One was at 9:26 a magnitude 5.9 in Ocotillo, CA then a magnitude 3.9 hit just three minutes later, then a magnitude 3.6 two minutes later centered in the same location Ocotillo, CA. One minute later there was a 3.2 in Ocotillo Wells, CA and one minute after another 3.2 in Chula Vista, CA. Long Beach Grand Prix Friday InfoWednesday, April 14th, 2010 by adminGoing to the Grand Prix on Friday is a fun experience. You can walk freely around the track and through the Lifestyle Expo because usually there are less people than on Saturday and definitely on Sunday. If you go into the pits the drivers are usually more willing to sign autographs and talk because they have not yet gotten into “race mode” yet. A fun thing to do is watch the Pro/Celebrity practice and if you get over by their pit area early enough you can get some autographs and pictures with the celebrities. Here is a list of all the Pro/Celebrity drivers:

Dodgers Opening Day TomorrowMonday, April 12th, 2010 by adminThe Los Angeles Dodgers start their first homestand of the year tomorrow against the Arizona Diamondbacks. With a big question about their pitching staff and some tough road loses.
Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for the Dodgers vs a good young pitcher for Arizona in Ian Kennedy. On a side note Ian Kennedy is a local guy who grew up in the Southern California area and then attended University of Southern California (USC), so we will root for him except in this case because he is pitching against the Dodgers. The hope for LA is Kershaw will be able to pitch into the 6 or 7 inning and give the bullpen some much needed rest. The D-Backs do not have the most potent offense, however they did put up 13 runs on Sunday in the fourth inning and have young players like Justin Upton and Stephen Drew that pose a threat.
What will Joe do with the offensive line-up tomorrow? Ronnie Belliard is tearing the cover off the ball and Casey Blake is also off to a pretty hot start, should Belliard move to second base ahead of Blake DeWitt. Since Ian Kennedy is a righty it would make since to start Blake who bats left handed, so what will Joe do to increase the offensive output.
Reports are Either’s ankle is feeling better which means he will get the start in right field tomorrow, giving Garrett Anderson and Reed Johnson their places back on the bench. High Fives go out to both who filled in admirably for Either and Ramirez. Looks like so far Ned has done a good job with those pick-ups.
Good luck to the Boys in Blue and if you need tickets for the homestand take a look here. NIXON IN CHINA at Long Beach Terrace TheaterTuesday, March 2nd, 2010 by AaronComposer: John Adams Libretto: Alice Goodman John Adams’ gripping, modern masterpiece transports audiences back to Beijing for the historic meeting of Nixon and Mao inside the heart of the tiger. On March 20th and March 28th, 2010, at the Terrace Theater in Long Beach, California, Long Beach Opera will present Nixon in China, America’s landmark opera by Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-winning composer, John Adams. In 1971, a game of ping pong brought China and America to opposite sides of a 9 foot table, but it wasn’t until after President Nixon and Chairman Mao Tse-Tung shook hands in 1972 that the gates of China opened to the modern world. John Adams describes Nixon in China as “part epic, part satire, part a parody of political posturing, and part serious examination of historical, philosophical, and even gender issues.” Through its dramatic music, striking choruses, colorful ballet, and brilliant lyrics, Nixon in China explores the inner thoughts of those who were there – Nixon, Kissinger, Mao Tse Tung, Chou En-Lai, Pat Nixon, and Madame Mao – emotions clash, and the intricate game of ping pong diplomacy is played once again.
