Rare day in LA… Clippers Win Lakers Lose

Friday, February 26th, 2010 by Aaron

It was an interesting Wednesday February 24 in the ciudad of Los Angeles. The Clippers beat the hated Detroit Pistons and the Lakers lost to once the best team in the NBA Dallas Mavericks.
.
.

So the Lakers played an okay game considering they played the night before but to be a Championship team you have to win the back-to-back road games. I am sure the Zen Master would agree. Lamar had a game high 21 points off the bench with 7 rebounds. Lamar mentioned that his usual pre-game ritual of working out before the game was changed out for a nap and a massage. I think Lamar should have advised all the Lakers to take a nap and get a massage before the game and they probably would have won. There is something about Lamar that you just love, that is what Khloe thought as well.
.
.

On another note Andrew Bynum had some interesting comments after the game about playing 8 vs. 5. Well Andrew I think you were right, how does a team rack up 4 personal fouls in the first three minutes of the quarter without a little help from player 6, 7, and 8. Chalk it up to playing in Dallas with Mark Cuban courtside. Just a piece of advise we would like to pass on to Andrew, via James Worthy, “You can think it but do not say it”.
.
.

That is acutally a piece of advise that can be used in everyone’s daily lives, well what do you know a little Zen from James Worthy, maybe we should call him Zen Student from now on.
.
.

On to the Clippers

All I can say is good for them to show up and fight hard and win against a Detroit team that has a worst record than the Clippers. Wow now that is something I never thought I would say the Clippers have a better record than the Pistons. Congratulations to Mike Dunleavy for putting together a better team than Joe Dumars, poor Detroit.
.
.

Rasual Butler, Drew Gooden and Chris Kaman were the stars of the night. Rasual had 16 points with most of those coming in the second half and Drew Gooden had 20 points and was 8-8 from the free throw line and Chris Kaman had 21 points and 15 rebounds, quite an all-star performance. Overall it was a good team game for the Clippers, anytime you hold your opponent under 100 points is a good team defensive game.
.
.

Well let’s see how the Lakers and Clippers fair on Friday when the Lakers host the 76ers at Staples Center Look for tickets for Fridays came and the Clippers travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns. Good luck to both.

Kobe and Phil to leave the Lakers….

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 by Aaron

Not a chance in this world do both guys leave the Lakers. In a recent article by Peter Vecsey of the NY Post he made mention that Kobe and Phil, both free agents at the end of the season, might be heading over to the Clippers locker room. I know that folks in New York would love for that to happen, giving them a better shot at landing LeBron, but really the Clippers. .
.

We show love to the Clippers and root for them when they are not playing the Lakers, but I have to believe that Kobe and especially Phil are way to smart to switch teams in Los Angeles. The Clippers luck is just so bad that if Kobe switched teams in training camp he would probably blow out his knee and they would not get Phil the right kind of “high chair” that he needs and cause both his repaired hips to dislocate.
.
.

Sorry Peter but there is no chance either one of those guys leaves, why would they. Ultimately Kobe and Phil want to win period end of story. The Lakers gives them both the best opportunity to do that. Sure there is the issue of money but do either one of them need anymore money. I can not see Kobe or Phil happy in a losing situation but raking in the dough. If there is any question, Kobe should ask Baron Davis how it feels, I bet Baron would much rather be making half the salary and be playing on the Lakers.

On another note at least the Clippers are not as bad as the Nets, sorry NY maybe next year.

Lakers missed it by that much

Friday, February 19th, 2010 by Aaron

The Lakers played an “awful” games in the words of Phil Jackson, but still had a chance in the end. The Celtics starters played hard throughout the game but when their bench came into the game that is when the Lakers made their move. Being down by double digits and then taking the lead showed the Lakers had a lot of heart and determination. Without Kobe, Lamar, Pau and Ron Artest made up the difference and helped frustrate the Celtics during the fourth quarter. With 31 seconds left Paul Pierce had the ball and worked the shot clock down to 9 seconds then drove to the basket missing short. Lamar grabbed the rebound and drove to the other end of the court. While he was ending to the other end, Pau was calling timeout and the referees finally heard him with 2.2 seconds. Once play resumed the ball went it Fisher and he was not able to get off a “great” but had a chance.

If Kobe had been in the game the Celtics would not have had a chance, well the Lakers play again next Tuesday and will try and get back to their winning ways. Good news though Cleveland lost to Denver and then lost to Charlotte allowing the Lakers to get back in the race for best overall record.
