The Lakers played an “awful” games in the words of Phil Jackson, but still had a chance in the end. The Celtics starters played hard throughout the game but when their bench came into the game that is when the Lakers made their move. Being down by double digits and then taking the lead showed the Lakers had a lot of heart and determination. Without Kobe, Lamar, Pau and Ron Artest made up the difference and helped frustrate the Celtics during the fourth quarter. With 31 seconds left Paul Pierce had the ball and worked the shot clock down to 9 seconds then drove to the basket missing short. Lamar grabbed the rebound and drove to the other end of the court. While he was ending to the other end, Pau was calling timeout and the referees finally heard him with 2.2 seconds. Once play resumed the ball went it Fisher and he was not able to get off a “great” but had a chance.
If Kobe had been in the game the Celtics would not have had a chance, well the Lakers play again next Tuesday and will try and get back to their winning ways. Good news though Cleveland lost to Denver and then lost to Charlotte allowing the Lakers to get back in the race for best overall record.
