Disneyland Park

No one does the theme park better than Disney. Disneyland Park, aka "the enchanted kingdom" or "The Happiest Place on Earth," has a little bit of something for everyone. Whether you like shopping, roller coaster rides, greasy burgers, fine French cuisine, mint juleps, live shows or big lollipops shaped like Mickey Mouse's head, you'll find 'em at Disneyland Park. Below is a brief overview of the main sections of the park. You can also watch videos of Disneyland Park rides.

Adventureland. Highlights of Adventureland include Indiana Jones Adventure, the Jungle Cruise and Tarzan's Treehouse. Indiana Jones Adventure is a fast-paced spin through an ancient temple. The Jungle Cruise is a Disneyland classic: The slow moving boat meanders from Burma to the Congo to the Amazon, while your guide cracks corny jokes. Tarzan's Treehouse is a walk-through attraction, but stay away if you're scared of heights!

Critter Country. Splash Mountain, also known as Disneyland Park's log ride, is the main attraction of Critter Country. The kids might want to paddle around in Davy Crockett's Canoes too.

Fantasyland. Fantasyland has more rides than any other section of the park: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, It's a Small World and Peter Pan's Flight are some of the popular Fantasyland amusements. This section of Disneyland also features the Matterhorn Bobsleds, which is that big snow-covered mountain you can see from the 5 freeway.

Frontierland. This is the Old West themed area of Disneyland Park, where you can fire rifles in the arcade, take a raft to Tom Sawyer's Island, ride on the Mark Twain Riverboat and watch some can-can dancing at The Golden Horseshoe Review. Tom Sawyer's Island is a big hit with the kids. Thrill seekers will head straight for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a fast-paced coaster themed after an out-of-control mining train.

Main Street USA. Main Street USA is the main drag that runs from the entrance to the enchanted castle. This section of Disneyland Park is without rides, except for the horse-drawn carriages, street cars and the railroad. You will find plenty of souvenirs, candy and fudge for sale--just what you need to keep that happy buzz going.

New Orleans Square. Aye, here you'll find the Pirates of the Caribbean, the ride that inspired the pirates craze. Maybe you'll even catch a glimpse of Captain Jack Sparrow. When you're done there, head over to the Haunted Mansion and meet up with the happiest ghosts around.

Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland's primary feature is Space Mountain, the high speed coaster that zips through "outer space." There's also Star Tours, a strangely realistic space cruiser ride that doesn't actually go anywhere, Astro Orbitor and the 3-D show "Honey I Shrunk the Audience."

Toontown. The little ones will want to spend the day in Toontown, perhaps trying not to get too banged up in Goofy's Bounce House. They can meet Mickey Mouse, tour Mickey Mouse's house (and Minnie Mouse's too!), ride the Jolly Trolley and take a spin on the Go Coaster.

And then there are the subs...The latest big thing to hit Disneyland Park is the Finding Nemo Submarine. The Finding Nemo Submarine is the incarnation of Disneyland's original sub ride, updated with the presence of popular Finding Nemo characters and an all-new lagoon environment.
